1 .0 INTRODUCTION
Technology is the force of today’s evolving world, and television is at the heart of it While experiencing it own evolution and advancement, ‘TV has maintained a constant presence Postman (1985) Wrote that television is our culture’s principal mode of knowing about itself. The Nigerian culture is observed to be fading cut as a result of the acceptance and adaption of the modern’s solution on to under development. Access to the modern mass media such as the western television is linked to individual modernity. Nigeria and other third world countries have reacted to these finding foreign exchange earnings to import radio and television transmitters and set. The television programs especially provide money powerful medals for children and abundant opportunities for observational learning. The television programs includes: Depiction of -sex, violence, drugs and alcohol used and vulgar language behaviours. Etc. that most parents do not want their children to imitate.
Studies have been found by early adolescence that the average Nigerian children have wanted thousands of dramatized murders and countless other acts of violence on television For many years, psychologists have debated the question of whether watching violence on TV have detrimental effect on the children. A number of researches have proved that watching western television
has brought cultural basterdazation to Nigerian including other countries in Africa.
Nigeria as exemplified by trends in Anyigba metropolis where western export of television entertainment, information are shown in NTA, AIT television minay channels, cartoon Network, ESPN, “Expounded Sports Programs Network,” channel provided by various satellite transmission operates as DSTV, multi-choices, music television, Euro sports, etc. have raised Nigerians eyebrows to such western television programs. Thereby, making them to behave like them, associates with them and even speaks like them. Even our generation that is shown on NTA and the youth perspective on ESPN are presented by youth and replete with music video of western origin dominated by rap stars as (late) Tupac, Beyounce, Ashanti, 50-cent, Sean Paul, Kelly Rowland, Celine Dion, Jay Z. etc. it is the researchers believe that western television especially America television export have a strategic “weapon” aimed to overthrow the cultural values of Nigerian youths/. This study shall attempt to look into how the western television has inﬂuence Nigerian culture.
1.1 STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
In a research project, the main reason for statement of problem is to identify the salient’s factors responsible for the social phenomenon or rather to say those agents mullitenting the continues existence of persistence of that social phenomenon. However, various problems has been established to be cause by western television viewing by Nigerian youth.

IV. The Nigerian are faced with brain wash where they watch television and often make them want to live their lives like the westerners and speak like them and often Wishes to be a citizen of America and because of this it lead to illegal migration across the borders.
V. Western movies this is the origin and the major causes of adolescents sexual behavior which has result to unwanted - pregnancy and abortion.
Therefore, if the above problems are not been taken care of, it will lead to a total destruction of the Nigerians culture.
1.2. RESEARCH QUESTION
In this research work, certain question have been generated which an attempt in providing response or solutions to these questions will yield positives effects on the inﬂuence of Western television on the cultural values of Nigeria youth, these include:

1.3. OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
The researcher’s objective is to conduct an indept research on the inﬂuence of western television programs on the cultural values of the Nigerians youth with an insight to determine its implication to the cultural values of Nigerians youth.
1) To show the contents of western television programs and the way it affects Nigerian university students.
2) To examine its pervasive impact on.“ the cultural values of Nigerian university students: Kogi state university inclusive.
3) To analyze the forms, structures and operations of western television.
4) To ascertain how Western television programs inﬂuence individual choice of life style.
5) To recommend how this Western television programs can be isolated from Nigeria.
1.4. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The focus of many research works on the inﬂuence of western television has been limited mostly on the violence behavior learned. This research is often time excludes familiar aspects of television programs and its impact on the violence behavior of the youth. This study made signiﬁcant in its beds to extend its to Nigerian society, in order to know the forms at work and that are deliberated to the youth and the view of the and public on What the inﬂuence of Western on the Nigerian undergraduate youths.
1. The study will be also extended to know if parents and public individuals are been brain washed by western television programs and how they see in their own opinion the bastadization of western culture in our society today.
2. The study twill also tend to know if the western television viewing constitutes the uncultured and the disrespective behavior of the youth.

1.5 RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS
H0: Western ﬁlms does not shape the attitudes, behaviors and general lifestyles of teenagers in Nigeria.
H1: Western ﬁlms shape the attitudes, behaviors and general lifestyles of teenagers in Nigeria.

Ho: Nigerian youth does not accept and practice western cultures exposed to through western ﬁlms at the expense of Nigerian cultures.
H1: Nigerian youth accept and practice western cultures exposed to through Western ﬁlms at the expense of Nigerian cultures.
1.6. SCOPE AND LIMITATION OF STUDY
The scope and limitation oﬁ this study will be limited to the western television and the inﬂuence on the cultural values of Nigerians youths in Kogi state university Anyigba.

According to Asemah (2010) television is a media combines sounds and visuals. Television Programme: also called television show is a segment of content intended for broadcast on television. It may be a one- time production or part of a periodically recurring. (Wikipedia, 2013)
Culture: The concept of culture is the speciﬁc system of norms, beliefs, practices, techniques and objectives that the people of a given society have inherited from their fore-father have invented or have adopted from others (Asemah 2910). Values: values can be defined as a conception, explicit, or implicit distinctive of an individual or characteristic of a growth of a desirable which inﬂuence the selection from available modes, means and ends of action (Stack Rodney 2010). Values are socially shared ideas about what is “right” and “wrong” in society (Fasoranti, 2010)
Cultural values: these are collective conception of what is considered good, desirable and proper or bad, undesirable, and improper in a culture. They indicate what people in a given culture prefer as well as what they ﬁnd important and morally right or wrong (Schaefer, 2009).
Mass media are processes through which messages can be communicated to an audience.
